About us

Scarlet Oak Theatre was founded by Jasmine Orchard and Lucia d'Inverno, dedicated to creating imaginative and inspiring theatre for families. Our mission is to craft performances that engage, excite, and spark meaningful conversations across generations, encouraging curiosity and connection between children and adults alike.

While we take inspiration from the natural world around us, we are equally passionate about telling stories that celebrate human connection. Our shows explore the ties that bind us—friendship, family, and community—helping audiences of all ages reflect on their relationships with each other and the world around them.

We believe theatre should reach beyond traditional stages, which is why we take our work not only to theatres but also to libraries, schools, and village halls—bringing our stories directly into the heart of communities.

Our productions are brought to life using a vibrant mix of puppetry, physical theatre, clowning, and educational. Each new project sees us collaborating with talented artists, allowing Scarlet Oak Theatre to grow and evolve with every production. We are passionate about making memorable, accessible theatre experiences that inspire the next generation and foster a love of creativity in audiences of all ages.

Jasmine Orchard

Jasmine is a freelance director, actor, puppeteer and producer. She studied Drama: Theatre and Media at University of Glamorgan; Contemporary Circus and Physical Theatre at Circomedia; and Clowning at Ecole Phillipe Gaulier. Outside of formal training Jasmine has continued to develop her creative practice in residencies with companies such as Ockham’s Razor, Spy Monkey, Frantic Assembly and The Object Project. Her love of puppetry has presented her with lots of opportunities to create theatre specifically for younger audiences and has appeared in stage productions of The Gingerbread Man, Reindeer on the roof and The Homeless Panda before producing her own work with Scarlet Oak Theatre.

Lucia d’Inverno

Lucia trained with the Year Out Drama Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon, studied Physical Theatre and Circus at Circomedia Bristol and Greek and Roman Theatre, Art and History at University of Bristol. As well as working as an actor Lucia co-produces Wonderhaus, a Dada inspired comedy cabaret where she regularly performs a game show style act, The GameZone.

Lucia has loved working with young people in a variety of roles including as a playworker, childminder and a freelance theatre workshop facilitator. Lucia is proud to deliver interactive workshops at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, inviting young people to delve into the worlds of the Ancient Egyptians and Greeks, Stone Age Britons and War time Bristolians. Puppeteering and storytelling with Jasmine is both a joy and a privilege for Lucia as together they engage, educate and inspire young people and their grown ups alike.
